Christmas Gifts

I was listening to Casey Kasem's top 40 christmas edition this morning.

Every time they got ready to break for commercials, Casey would do a commercial for an item he recommended listeners buying for their family. What kind of gifts were they? Gifts you couldn't afford to buy unless you made a fortune!

My favorite was for the Bose stereo system. Talking about buying it for a family member, and hey....why not buy one for yourself as well.

Ummm..... I don't know any family member that gets $1000 gifts, do you? The simple fact that in order to buy their headphones, they have a monthly payment plan!!

Geeze!

Emmitt wins Dancing With The Stars 3

Season 3 is all over, and the winner is..... Emmitt Smith.

I have to say, I'm quite happy Mario didn't win.

The premise of Dancing with the Stars was to take stars who had no dancing background, and teach them all the intracracies of ballroom dancing. Every season ABC sacrifices this premise to get ratings. Last year, they brought in Drew Lachey, who was in a boy band and was experienced in learning routines and pulling them off, and he won.

This year, they had two ringers, Mario Lopez and Joey Lawrence. True, Joey Lawrence only had dance training when he was small, but he still had it. He still carried with him the training he received when he was a child. And Mario. Mario was on Kids Incorporated. He learned dance routines every week, and had to master them. Both of them had dance training. Neither of them should have been allowed to compete. I'd even go so far as saying Willa Ford is a recording artist and has training when she does her videos, she probably shouldn't have been allowed in either.

So I'm very glad Emmitt, who had no training and worked his butt off, won this season's DWTS.

That all being said.... I wonder if they give Cheryl a bean bag next season if she could win again?

Sending the woman off to fight your battles

After being out of the spotlight for almost 7 months, Tom Cruise is inflicting himself on the population again. But what was he careful to do before he started appearing everywhere? Send Katie Holmes and "his" daughter out to mend HIS fences.

You've seen the photos, Katie out having lunch with Brooke Shields (the site of his last great stand), having Katie making things look good.

Now they're finally getting married this weekend. I feel bad for Katie. I think she's in over her head, and there's no way to get out now.....not without losing her baby.

And as for Suri...that baby is all Katie. Suri looks just like her mother. Doesn't look at all like Tom...which just confirms my feelings that Suri wasn't conceived naturally. I swear there was a fertility clinic involved in the conception.

Thanksgiving's Coming!?

Already?

Yesterday my father and I were discussing whether I had room in my freezer for the turkey. He mentioned I should probably take it out on Monday. I asked why, he said Thanksgiving is Thursday.

Thanksgiving is next Thursday????

This year has just flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating my boys' first birthday, and now it's the middle of November. In 3 weeks my birthday is here, and 3 weeks after that it's Xmas.

Has anyone else just had this last year fly by??
Did Thanksgiving sneak up on anyone else too?

Deer!

I'm against hunting. I hate it. I hate the idea of poor innocent deer being gunned down literally by someone who hides hundreds of feet away, makes me mad. If you want to hunt, do it the way the cavemen did... with a ground rock... make them work for it.

After this morning, I still feel the same, but dang... I hate Deer.

One decided to attack my car this morning. My hubby stopped for one deer, and another ran into the side of the car. So now I have to put my car in the shop and get it fixed.

Ugh.

Deer stories anyone?

Anyone else hit a deer? What happened?

Black Friday #2

Just a quick follow-up to my post the other day about Black Friday.

My husband and I have spent the day planning strategy. We're sending the boys off to spend the night with their grandparents on Thanksgiving so we can hit some of the online Black Friday deals at midnight, and then it's up bright and early to hit Walmart at 5AM and then run over to Staples at 6. Then to the other stores we want to hit.

What? You don't have your plan of attack mapped out yet??? Shame on you!
Just visit blackfriday.gottadeal.com and check out the sales ads. They have almost all major stores including JC Penney, Sears, Walmart, Lowes, Staples, Office max, Circuit City, Best Buy, and they even have CVS and Walgreens!

Some people shouldn't be allowed to go out in public

If you remember, 5 years ago Bill Maher showed himself to be an idiot with his remarks about the terrorists. He lost his TV show, and now has a show on HBO. I've seen it, not very impressed with it quite frankly.

At Halloween, the idiot struck again by going to a Halloween party dressed up as Steve Irwin

To say this was in bad taste is an understatement.

And Where will you be on Black Friday?

Black Friday is the name given to the day after Thanksgiving. It's when nutcases, like me, get up at insane times in the morning to go camp out in front of our favorite stores for their early (usually 5AM) openings to get the amazing sales.

For example, one year my husband wanted a laptop. Me, being the terrific wife I am got up to get him his special Black Friday laptop. I got up at 4 AM and sleep-drove my way to Best Buy. I then stood out in the cold and rain from 4:30 to 6:00 in my quest to get the laptop. While talking to people in line, I found out the ones that were first in line had gotten there at 10PM the night before....talk about dedication. Three hours later, irritated, laptop in hand, I left the store in victory.

Other memorable Black Fridays... the year of the Furby. I remember my mom, step-dad, and I hitting about 5 stores going through the mad rush as stores opened (back then they all opened different times, so if you were lucky you could hit every opening). After 3 stores, we finally got our Furbies.

Gottadeal.com has started it's yearly countdown to Black Friday. If you are like me and take this stuff seriously, you need to scope out the sales so you can figure out which sale you must be at when the doors open, which store you'll hit next and plan out your morning.

Want to start planning your attack? blackfriday.gottadeal.com

Anything on your wishlist?
Have any Black Friday memories?

Welcome to My Blog

Let me tell you a little about myself.
I'm 31, the mother of twin boys (born Feb. 2005), and the owner of my own business. I began my business when the boys were born, because between commuting and working, I was out of the house 12 hours a day. I didn't want to be away from my boys that long every day, and started up my business.

This blog.
This blog is a hodgepodge. It'll contain movie, television, and product reviews, as well as musings, things I find interesting, articles, gossip, things my boys are up to, like I said a hodgepodge.

Please feel free to post comments, questions, requests, anything you want!!
